CANNA Cannas originate from the moist tropical forest margins in areas of asia and sub-tropical North and South America. There are about 50 species and many hundreds of hybrids bred for their large showy brightly coloured flowers. They are herbaceous perenials growing from rhizomes which are quite capable of surviving in the ground over winter in the milder parts of the UK, but which can be lifted and stored for re-potting in the spring if required. Due to the Canna virus which has become widespread in the hybrid varieties sold by many garden centres, for the time being we will only be selling the species Cannas grown from seed.
