Pseudosasa japonica.
A very tough species which can be used for windbreaks and hedges.
The leaves and culms retain their rich green colour even in adverse conditions
which can even include soils that become waterlogged for short periods. It will
also put up with dry soils when mature but always looks at its best when well watered.
The culm sheaths are a pale straw colour and remain on the culms even when mature.
It is a leptomorph species and needs to be contained by a root barrier if space is
limited.
